چکیده

This paper reports on a fully-integrated CMOS switchable directconversion receiver for 2GHz and 5GHz. Switchable low noise amplifier is proposed for suiting for multiband (2GHz, 5GHz). Sub-harmonic mixing is used for down-conversion to minimize the DC-offset due to LO-leakage. The residual DC-offset is cancelled by a digital-to-analog converter at the output of mixer. For quadrature down-conversion with sub-harmonic mixing, octa-phase LO signals are generated by an integer-N type frequency synthesizer. Implemented in a 0.18 m CMOS technology, the receiver dissipates 97mA from a 1.8V supply voltage and has 6.5dB noise figure (NF) and -4dBm input third-order intercept point (iIP3). The phase noise of the closed-loop VCO is 108dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset.

A CMOS Quadrature Down-Converter for Direct-Conversion Receiver of 5.15-5.825GHz Wireless LAN

A CMOS quadrature down-converter for a direct-conversion receiver of 5.15-5.825GHz wireless LAN is described. The down-converter consists of two sub-harmonic mixers, for I and Q channels, and an LO generation network. In order to prevent the low-frequency component generated by the even-order distortion of the transconductance stage from being leaked to the mixer output, transconductance and sw...

A CMOS LC-tank VCO and phase shifting network for direct conversion receiver of IEEE 802.11a

A CMOS LC-tank VCO and phase-shifting network are described for a direct-conversion receiver of IEEE 802.11a. The direct-conversion receiver is configured to have sub-harmonic mixing structure which requires multi-phase local oscillator (LO) signals spaced by 45°. A poly-phase filter with 3and 4-stage RC networks generates multi-phase LO signals whose amplitude imbalance is removed by cascaded ...

A Zero-IF Sub-Harmonic Mixer with High LO-RF Isolation using 0.18 μm CMOS Technology

In this study, we introduce a zero-IF sub-harmonic mixer with high isolation in the 5GHz band using 0.18μm CMOS technology. Placing an LC-Tank between the class AB stage and the mixer core improves the isolation between the LO and RF ports. The measured isolation is obtained with a 48 dB between LO and RF ports; and a 9.5dB conversion gain is acquired while consuming 7mA at 2.5V supply voltage....

Design Analysis and Comparative Study of Rf Receiver Front-ends in 0.18-μm Cmos

In this work, design and simulation results of two RF front-ends to be used in direct conversion receiver are presented. The first one uses dual CS differential LNA with folded mixer. The second one uses single-ended LNA with double balanced mixer. Single-ended and fully differential LNA’s provide gains of 16.3 dB and 28.75 dB at 2.4GHz, respectively. Noise Figure of these two LNA’s are 3.34 dB...
